Brook was at the crease to handle England’s crumbling middle order. In the second over of the day, Jamie Smith had to come to the field to support Harry Brook. After Mohammad Siraj took two wickets in the same over, both the batsmen played responsibly, hitting the ball across the boundary from time to time and rotating the strike.
Indian bowler Mohammad Siraj started the day in a great way. Two strong pillars of England, Joe Root (22 runs, 46 balls) and Ben Stokes (0) were dismissed in the same over and showed the way to the pavilion. England were in a difficult situation at that time after losing five wickets for 84 runs, and were seen struggling to move towards India’s huge target of 587 runs in the first innings.

Earlier, from the Indian camp, captain Shubman Gill put the Indian team in a strong position by scoring a brilliant double century (269 runs, 387 balls). Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (87 runs, 107 balls) and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (89 runs, 137 balls) also played brilliant innings. However, both batsmen missed out on scoring a century.
