India cut short practice amid handshake row, Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma dazzle ahead of Oman clash

Team India went about their business as usual on Tuesday in Dubai. The Men in Blue held a training session at the ICC Academy in Dubai. While the handshake controversy continues to create a furore, Suryakumar Yadav and Co have turned their attention to their next Asia Cup 2025 encounter against Oman. However the session was not without incident, with India calling time an hour early to avoid an overlap with Pakistan at the adjoining ground.
Gambhir culls practice due to Pakistan overlap, Gill takes short ball lessons
With Dubai in constant use during the Asia Cup 2025, India and the rest of the teams have trained at the ICC Academy in Dubai for the tournament. The Men in Blue had a training session on Tuesday, with Shubman Gill spending an extended time in the nets. The Indian opener has failed to make good on his starts in both outings. He was seen practicing the pull shot and faced some short pitched bowling. The Indian Test captain also took a page out of Suryakumar Yadav’s book, playing a scoop shot with a aplomb.
Rinku Singh also had a long time out in the nets. With India now qualified for the Super 4, Gautam Gambhir could hand the left-hander a game in the dead-rubber against Oman. Tilak Varma had a close catching session and took some spectacular catches. Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh both had a long spell in the nets, suggesting their involvement on Thursday.
India’s stars usually engage in range hitting post session, but called it off due to an overlap in session with Pakistan. As per Cricbuzzz, the two teams were assigned adjoining grounds and their sessions were scheduled to overlap for an hour. However, India finished their practice and wrapped up even before the Pakistan team had reached the ground. Had training continued, there was a chance of a lot of deliveries landing into the area Pakistan practiced in.
