After an excellent start to his captaincy career, Suryakumar Yadav has maintained his streak in Asia Cup 2025, his first major tournament. Before that, India clinched T20I series against England with a 4-1 result in a five-match series.
Suryakumar Yadav began his official T20I captaincy with a clean sweep victory against Sri Lanka in the three-match T20I series at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Surya’s record in the shortest format of the game has been exceptional, having now led the Indian cricket team to three series wins as skipper.

Suryakumar Yadav, primarily known for his 360-degree batting style, has only captained India in T20Is. Initially, he was not the permanent captain. He stepped in to fill the gap when the regular captain was unavailable. After the 2023 World Cup, he led India in a T20I series against Australia, securing a 4-1 victory as a form of revenge for the World Cup loss.
