Sai Sudharsan ruled out of Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Trophy opener after injury

Sai Sudharsan will miss out on Tamil Nadu’s Ranji Trophy opener against Jharkhand starting Wednesday. The left-hander was expected to join the team in Coimbatore after the end of the IND vs WI 2nd Test. However, the 23-year-old suffered an injury and is yet to receive a green light from the BCCI to play.

Sai Sudharsan’s injury has kept him out of Tamil Nadu’s opening game against Jharkhand. Sudharsan was expected to be added to an updated squad alongside N Jagadeesan who also featured in the IND vs WI squad. However, the left-hander suffered an injury while fielding on Day 3 of the IND vs WI 2nd Test. Sudharsan was hit on the chest while at short leg by a John Campbell sweep.
He did not field for the rest of the WI innings but did come out to bat on Day 4. The injury was not deemed to be serious and his condition was monitored accordingly.
Sudharsan managed to score a gritty 87-run knock in his 1st innings, missing out on what would have been his maiden Test century. In the second innings, he scored 39 helping India seal a rather comfortable
