T20 World Cup 2026: UAE joins Nepal, Oman to seal qualification as all 20 teams are finalized

All 20 teams for the T20 World Cup next year have been finalised. UAE sealed the final qualification spot on Thursday, beating Japan to it in the Asia-EAP Qualifier tournament in Al Amerat. The Gulf nation will join Nepal and Oman as the last three teams to make it to the main tournament set to be played in India and Sri Lanka next year.
UAE last team to qualify for T20 World Cup 2026
The T20 World Cup was expanded to 20 teams in the last edition and will continued to be played in the same format next year. Teams will be divided into 4 groups of 5 each, with top 2 from each group making it to the Super 8.
The Super 8 will see teams divided in groups of 4 as per pre-tournament seeding. Again top 2 from each group will then make the semi-finals. India won the tournament in 2024, which marked the final games of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in t20Is.

It will the second consecutive ICC event India host after the ongoing Women’s World Cup. India also hosted the 2023 men’s ODI World Cup, which they lost agonizingly in the final. The tournament will be played in February-March, before the IPL 2026 season starts.
