Gautam Gambhir: “Nobody is telling us anything” Aakash Chopra slams Gambhir over team selection

Gautam Gambhir has come under fire for his poor record as a Test coach.

Gautam Gambhir: Former India opener Aakash Chopra has slammed India head coach Gautam Gambhir and the team management for the lack of clarity on injury issues in the squad ahead of the fourth Test against England in Manchester. Chopra raised serious questions over the selection of Anshul Kamboj and the non-selection of Harshit Rana, and said that there is “no clarity” about the game plans of the Indian team management.

Gautam Gambhir: The visitors have been plagued by injuries

Since the loss in the third Test, the visitors have been plagued by injuries, including bowler Arshdeep Singh, who was injured during a practice session. Then, pacer Aakash Deep suffered a back strain during the third Test at Lord’s.

Later, the BCCI informed that all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy will miss the rest of the Tests due to a knee injury. On July 21, the BCCI confirmed that Arshdeep Singh was ruled out of the fourth Test, and Nitish Kumar Reddy will return to India for treatment of his knee injury. Also, Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj was officially named in the Indian squad as a replacement.

“It is very interesting. There was a lot of buzz around Anshul Kamboj. He had also done well for India A, but when the opportunity came earlier, the team management had picked Harshit Rana first. Anshul was sent back home, and now we are hearing about his name again,” Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

No one is telling us anything: Aakash Chopra

“Harshit Rana is not in the team. Now you have to think what is really going on? How do you decide who to keep in the team and who to leave out of the team? If we talk about India A’s performance, Anshul’s performance was better, but considering the consistency, you kept Harshit Rana in the team.”

He further said, “If this was the case, then you should have kept Harshit Rana in the team now as well. But he is not in the team, Anshul Kamboz is in the team. There is no clarity. Maybe the management knows, but no one is telling us anything. There is no surprise in this. Anshul Kamboz deserved it and he is now with the team.”

The fourth Test of the five-match series between India and England will start in Manchester from Wednesday, July 23. Kamboz can be seen playing in this match.

Former cricketer furious at Shubman Gill, accused him of copying Virat Kohli; targeted for aggression

Shubman Gill

Manoj Tiwary Bashesh Shubman Gill: The England tour is Shubman Gill’s first series as Indian Test captain. Gill made headlines with his batting in the first two Tests of the five-match series, but his aggressive attitude at Lord’s became a topic of discussion.

On the third day of the Lord’s Test, Gill was seen tangling with England openers Jack Crowley and Ben Duckett and after this the English team also looked enthusiastic on the fifth day and won the match. The way Gill showed aggression as a captain is being talked about a lot and now former Indian player Manoj Tiwari has also lashed out at him. It has also been alleged that he is trying to copy Virat Kohli on the field.

Manoj Tiwari joined the group of cricketers who claimed that Gill tried to copy Virat Kohli’s leadership style by showing aggression on the field. However, the former player claimed that it proved wrong for him as a batsman.

Aggression is affecting Shubman Gill’s batting

On SportsBoom, Manoj Tiwary said,

“I don’t like the way captain Gill is doing things. I think he is trying to do what Virat did last time. And as a result, it is not helping his batting.”

Tiwary also gave the example of IPL and mentioned a particular incident in which Shubman got into an argument with the fourth umpire after a run out. Manoj said,

“Ever since he became the captain in the IPL, I have seen that he has got into an aggressive mindset and talks a lot to the umpires. It was not like Gill. He does not need to show that kind of aggression and neither does he need to prove anything.”

Let us tell you that at the end of the third day of the Lord’s Test, Jack Crowley was trying to waste time and captain Shubman Gill did not like this. He vented his anger on Crawley and was also seen talking angrily to Duckett. However, Gill’s aggression had a bad effect on his batting and he got out cheaply in the second innings.

‘India started it’ – Harry Brook blames Team India for the controversy in the Lord’s Test

Harry Brook

Harry Brook Blames Team India for Lord’s Test Controversy: The third Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy was played at Lord’s ground. In this match, there was a lot of ruckus between the Indian and England players. Harry Brook has blamed the Indian team for starting this ruckus. He says that the kind of attitude the Indian team showed against Jack Crowley and Ben Duckett before the end of the third day of the match. This was the result of that.

In fact, before the end of the third day’s play, the England team had to play one over in their second innings. However, Jack Crowley and Ben Duckett were deliberately trying to spend time by showing cleverness, so that they did not have to play the whole over. Due to this, Indian captain Shubman Gill was very irritated and he also sledged both the openers fiercely. Mohammad Siraj was also seen fully supporting the captain during this time.

In the press conference before the Manchester Test, Harry Brook talked about this incident and said,

“We saw that those people were attacking Cripps (Jack Crowley) and Ducky (Ben Duckett), so we talked a little among ourselves and thought that we are a team, so why not stand united with them. Then we all retaliated on the field.”

It was fun…

It should be noted that after this, the England players tried to sledge many players during India’s second innings. A heated argument was also seen between Brydon Cars and Akashdeep. When Harry Brook was asked whether this incident was right for the game? He said,

“The reaction of the fans to this was tremendous. I got a lot of praise, everyone said that it was worth watching. It seemed as if there was an 11 vs 2 match on the field. It was fun. It was a bit tiring, but yes, it felt good. It made fielding a lot more fun.”

Let us tell you that the England team has currently gained a 2-1 lead in the series. Now its effort will be to win the Manchester Test and gain an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series. On the other hand, Gill’s army will show its strength to retain the series.

3 players who can replace Nitish Reddy in Manchester Test

Nitish

Players Who Can Replace Nitish Manchester Test: Before the start of the Manchester Test, star all-rounder Nitish Reddy has been ruled out of the England tour. He will not participate in the remaining two matches of the series due to a knee injury. Reddy suffered this injury during a gym session and will return to India.

Nitish Reddy: With Reddy being out of the team like this, it has become a bit difficult for the management to choose the playing 11 for the upcoming match. Reddy was an all-rounder and there is no other perfect all-rounder in the team to fill his place. Let us know about those three players who can replace Reddy in the Manchester Test.

3 players who can replace Nitish Reddy in the Manchester Test

3. Kuldeep Yadav

Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav has not played a single match in this series so far. He kept warming the bench in the first three matches. But after Reddy being out of the series like this, Kuldeep seems likely to get a chance in the fourth Test. Even though Kuldeep does not prove to be very effective in English conditions, he can get help from the old ball. Apart from this, Kuldeep bowls even more dangerously when the batsmen attack him. The England team plays in Tests with a beigeball policy. In such a situation, Kuldeep can overpower the English batsmen.

    2. Shardul Thakur

Shardul Thakur is also in the race to replace Reddy. This right-handed player is adept at fast bowling as well as batting well. Even though Shardul could not show any special feat in the first Test. But he has the ability to become a match winner. Now it will depend on the team management whether it wants to give this player a chance again or not.

      1. Anshul Kamboj

After two players were dropped from the team before the Manchester Test, BCCI has included Anshul Kamboj in the squad. This 24-year-old player knows how to bat as well as bowl lethally. This player’s record in domestic cricket has been tremendous. Anshul had recently taken 5 wickets in 2 matches played against England Lions and scored a half-century in batting.

              Farooq Engineer

Farokh Engineer and Clive Loyd are set to have stands name: Former Indian wicketkeeper Farooq Engineer and West Indies great Clive Lloyd will be honoured during the fourth Test match to be played between India and England. Both these players will be honoured by their former county club Lancashire.

Farooq Engineer: The stand at Old Trafford Stadium is to be named after Farooq and Clive. 87-year-old Engineer has played for Lancashire for almost a decade. Talking about former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd, he has been associated with this club for two decades. The contribution of both these players to the club is important.

Farooq Engineer: Sources said while talking to PTI that the naming ceremony of the stand could be held on the first day of the fourth Test starting on July 23.

              Farokh Engineer’s Lancashire career

Mumbai-born Engineer made his debut for county club Lancashire when the club had not been able to win any major title for more than 15 years.

He helped the club win the Gillette Cup four times between 1970 and 1975. Let us tell you that Farooq Engineer has played 46 Test matches for India. He has scored a total of 2611 runs at an average of 31.08. While playing for India, he took 66 catches and also made 16 stumpings.

Engineer and Lloyd will become immortal in history

When India plays the fourth Test on 23 July, Engineer along with Clive Lloyd will become immortal in the history of Lancashire. It is worth noting that Engineer has played most of his cricket at the Brabourne Stadium but there is no stand named after him there. A few years ago, Engineer had talked on the club’s website. He said,

It was an incredible time. Old Trafford was a great place. People came from far and wide to watch us play. From the dressing room at Old Trafford we could see Warwick Road railway station. Trains full of people would arrive before the match and people would disembark. Their conversations, sounds of joy and laughter could be clearly heard.

Not only this, Engineer also remembered the letters sent by fans in his golden days. Continuing his talk, he said,

It was very special. Our lockers would be filled with autograph requests and party invitations. There was talk all over England about that great team, which included names like Clive Lloyd, Harry Pilling, Peter Lever and Ken Shuttleworth.

After retirement, Engineer made Manchester his home. He still lives there.
