According to the commission’s report, the design and structure of the stadium is not safe for big events. The main reasons cited for this were limited entry and exit gates, poor public transport system, lack of queue management, lack of emergency evacuation plan and very less parking space.

The report concluded that organizing big events here is not free from danger to public safety. After this decision, the ICC decided to hold four Women’s World Cup matches to be held in Bengaluru at other places.

These matches included important matches like India-Sri Lanka, England-South Africa and India-Bangladesh. If Pakistan did not reach the final, Chinnaswamy could also get the hosting of the final.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association had proposed to organize the match without spectators, but the government rejected it as well. Earlier, Maharaja Trophy T20 matches were also held in Mysore due to security reasons. KSCA officials say that the Chinnaswamy Stadium has successfully hosted more than 750 matches and around 15 IPL seasons so far.
