Can Pakistan still make it to Asia Cup final, and setup India clash? Scenarios explained

Asia Cup: Pakistan lost to India in their first Super 4 encounter, followed by a win in the second against Sri Lanka.

So, we are done with three matches in the Super 4s of the Asia Cup 2025, and India and Bangladesh and now Pakistan have registered wins in this stage. After the Salman Ali Agha-led side beat Sri Lanka by five wickets, they now have one win and a loss in the Super 4s. That means they are still alive in the competition, with one more match to go. Now, the big question is, can the arch-rivals still make it to the summit clash and play India for the third time in this year’s tournament?

Pakistan’s chances of making Asia Cup final

Let’s break this down. India has an excellent NRR of +0.689 in the Super 4. After this victory of Asalanka’s team, PAK has moved to the second spot, and have an NRR of 0.226. Bangladesh have +0.121 while Sri Lanka have -0.590. So, the equation is pretty simple for PAK, they need to beat Bangladesh, and hope they lose to India.

India11002+0.689
Pakistan211020.226
Bangladesh110000.121
Sri Lanka20200-0.590

The first step would be to beat Sri Lanka.. That would oust the Islanders, after they lost to Bangladesh on Saturday. Post that, IND would face BAN, and if the former win again, India would go through. That would need PAK to beat Bangladesh in their next match. Then they would also go through. India and Pakistan would play again on the 28th.

A lot depends on how Bangladesh

But then, there are a lot of ifs and buts still. If Bangladesh go on to beat India, and PAK beat BAN, then the team with better NRR would go through. Of course, if Pakistan lose, they will be ousted and Bangladesh will go through certainly. So in short, both the Bangladesh games are of utmost importance to Pakistan.
