Is Pakistan boycotting Indian media during Asia Cup 2025? IND vs PAK drama takes fresh turn
Controversy, mind games and conflict – India vs Pakistan has dominated the conversation on and off the field during Asia Cup 2025. The Men in Blue made it successive wins in yet another clinical performance in Dubai on Sunday. Pakistan have suffered on the pitch against India, which seems to have boiled over into more off-field drama.
Pakistan avoid Indian media at Asia Cup 2025
As per the Times of India, Pakistan players have been reluctant in facing the Indian media at Asia Cup 2025. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha did not show up for post match presentation with Sanjay Manjrekar present after the game on September 14. Agha did the same after the win over UAE that saw them qualify for Asia Cup 2025 Super 4. He did however turn up yesterday, with Urooj Mumtaz on presentation duty. In fact, Agha even turned up for the post match press conference after Pakistan’s 6-wicket loss.
However, controversy further erupted when the Indian journalists were never given the chance to pose their questions. The report states the media persons sat waiting for their turn, but the microphone was never passed to them. Pakistan’s media manager Naeem Gilani ensured Agha faced questions from only Pakistani journalists.
Journalists pressed ACC and PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi on the Indian media boycott, to which the politician issued a vague response. In contrast, India captain Suryakumar Yadav had no problems answering Pakistani journalists, and even took questions surrounding the handshake controversy.
India and Pakistan could face once again provided both teams qualify for the final.
