A befitting reply to critics: Pratika Rawal becomes the joint-fastest player to score 1,000 runs in women’s ODIs

Pratika Rawal becomes the joint-fastest player to score 1,000 runs in women's ODIs

Pratika Rawal: The Indian women’s team is currently facing New Zealand Women in the Women’s World Cup 2025.

Young Indian women’s cricket team batsman Pratika Rawal has captured everyone’s attention with her strong performance. The player, who was recently criticized for her strike rate, has now become the fastest Indian batsman to reach 1,000 runs in women’s ODI cricket history.

She achieved this historic feat during the match against New Zealand in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. She reached this milestone when she scored 15 runs in her innings. Pratika achieved this record in just 23 innings, making her the joint-fastest batsman to reach the milestone along with Australia’s Lindsay Reeler.

This news update is based on reports from Crictracker

Pratika Rawal completed 1000 runs in just 23 innings

Behind Pratika on this record list are names like Meg Lanning and Nicole Bolton, who reached 1000 runs in 25 innings. Meanwhile, Belinda Clark of Australia and Laura Wolvaardt of South Africa achieved this feat in 27 innings.

Pratika Rawal made her ODI debut for India in 2024 and has since scored over 1000 runs in 28 matches. Her average is nearly 50 runs per innings. She has also scored one century and seven half-centuries. Her consistency in batting and understanding of shot selection have made her one of Team India’s most reliable openers.

Not only this, earlier this year she broke another record. She surpassed former England captain Charlotte Edwards to become the fastest woman to reach 500 runs in ODI cricket. She achieved this feat in just eight innings.

Now, expectations from the Indian team have increased even more. If the team defeats New Zealand on October 23rd, it will secure a place in the semifinals. The next match will be played against Bangladesh on October 26th, and all eyes will once again be on Pratika Rawal, who has become the new face of Indian women’s cricket.
