AUS vs IND 2025: ‘Gautam Gambhir doesn’t need to make so many changes,’ former selector makes surprising statement
The former selector said, “Under Gautam Gambhir’s leadership, India has been at two extremes. Match results have either been excellent or very poor.”
1983 World Cup-winning player and former BCCI selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth recently advised Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir not to make too many changes to the team in a hurry after losing the ODI series against Australia.

Although the Indian team won the 2025 Champions Trophy, the Indian team has performed inconsistently in this format since 2024.

On the other hand, Srikkanth praised the Indian Test team, saying that the Indian Test team, led by Shubman Gill, performed brilliantly in England. A new Indian team led by Gill handled England admirably, finishing the series 2-2. In the absence of two stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, Gill and all the other players played commendable cricket.
Gautam Gambhir: Srikkant made a big statement
In a video recently uploaded to his YouTube channel, Srikkant said, “Although Shubman Gill was the highest run-scorer in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, his recent performance in white-ball cricket has been extremely poor. He hasn’t scored a single half-century in the last 14 white-ball matches he’s played. His last half-century came against Bangladesh in his Champions Trophy debut.”
After his performance in England, Gill may be putting pressure on himself. He shouldn’t do that and should just play his natural game. But his body language suggests he’s under pressure, as he’s replaced Rohit Sharma as captain and is opening alongside him. Furthermore, everyone is asking why Yashasvi Jaiswal isn’t playing. This only adds to his pressure.”

Srikkanth further said that he will recover from this, as he is a great player. He should just play his normal game. Once he plays two big innings against South Africa at home, he will regain his confidence.
