Women’s ODI World Cup 2025: What happens if the India vs Australia semifinal gets washed out?

India isn’t billed as the favourite against Australia for the second semifinal of the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. But there might be a scenario where the hosts will lose even without playing. Set to play on October 30 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, the rain threat looms large.
The ongoing last group stage match between India and Bangladesh has already been reduced to 26 overs per side due to rain, and it looks like it won’t get better.
Navi Mumbai Weather Report for India vs Australia Semifinal
According to AccuWeather, the temperature will be around 32 degrees Celsius on October 30 in Navi Mumbai. The bad news is that the chances of rain are 69% during the day. It’s expected to be cloudy with likely constant rain interruptions.
Is there a reserve day?
Yes, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has scheduled a reserve day for the India vs Australia semifinal. If the match can’t be completely on October 30, it’ll be moved to the next day. But what if even the reserve day gets washed out?
What happens if the India vs Australia semifinal gets washed out?
If the first or second semifinal gets washed out, the team which ended higher on the points table will advance to the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup Final.
Considering that Australia finished on top and India at fourth, it’ll be the 7-time champions that’ll move to the final. Similarly, if the first semifinal between England and South Africa gets abandoned or ends in a no result, it’ll be England who’ll move to the final.
