Women's World Cup 2025: Australian captain Alyssa Healy's semifinal chances are unlikely! Head coach provides injury update

Australian captain Alyssa Healy missed the last two matches against England and South Africa due to injury.

The Australian women’s team has won all three group stage matches in the ongoing ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 and has secured the top spot on the points table. The Australian team will play its semi-final against India on October 30 at the DY Patil Cricket Stadium in Navi Mumbai.

The Australian team, which has so far looked the strongest in the tournament, is also facing trouble. Their wicketkeeper-captain Alyssa Healy has missed the last two matches against England and South Africa due to a hamstring injury. This injury also threatens her participation in the semi-final against India.

Australia Women’s Head Coach Shelley Niske answered media questions at a press conference after their win against South Africa on Saturday and shared important information about Healy’s injury. She confirmed that Alyssa Healy is currently suffering from an injury and has not yet recovered. The Australian team will have to wait for further evaluation of the wicketkeeper-batsman.

Alyssa Healy: England Also Suffers Setback

England may have to play without star spinner Sophie Ecclestone. She injured her left shoulder while fielding against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam. As a precaution, she did not bowl in that match, casting doubt on her participation in the semi-finals.

Sophie Ecclestone is performing brilliantly with the ball in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. She is among the leading wicket-takers in the tournament, taking 11 wickets so far. Her best performance came against Sri Lanka, where she took 4 wickets for just 17 runs.

England will play South Africa Women in the first semi-final at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday, October 29. The winner of this match will advance to the final in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.
