Wiaan Mulder Declared Innings Avoid Breaking Brian Lara Record: South Africa is playing the second match of the two-match Test series in Bulawayo on the WTC champion Zimbabwe tour, in which the team scored a huge score of 626/5 while batting first. The most important contribution in taking the team to this big score was of captain Wiaan Mulder, who created history on his captaincy debut by scoring the second fastest triple century in Test cricket. It was expected that Mulder would also break the record of the biggest innings in Test today i.e. Brian Lara’s 400* runs, but he did not do so and declared the innings after lunch.

In this way Mulder did not try to break Lara’s record.

Reminded fans of the 21-year-old story of Dravid and Tendulkar

The way Wiaan Mulder declared the innings despite being close to the milestone, reminded fans of the 21-year-old story of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar. In the 2004 Pakistan tour, during the test played in Multan, India’s captain Dravid declared the innings when Tendulkar was unbeaten on 194. It was Team India’s first innings in the match but Dravid did not wait for Sachin to complete his milestone. It is said that due to this reason, Sachin was also angry with Dravid for some time.

IPL 2026: Shikhar Dhawan gave advice to Vaibhav Suryavanshi, said- the second IPL year can be challenging

Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s confidence and also advised him to take care of mental health.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently one of the most rising stars of Indian cricket. In IPL 2025, he created history by scoring a century at the youngest age. Playing for Rajasthan Royals, he created a sensation by scoring a stormy century in 35 balls against Gujarat Titans at the age of just 14.

In the Indian Premier League 2025, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 1.10 crore. Thus he also became the youngest player to play in this league, as well as he celebrated his 14th birthday during the IPL.

Shikhar Dhawan praised

Meanwhile, former Indian cricket team opener Shikhar Dhawan praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi and said as quoted by Hindustan Times, “How old is he, 13-14? Playing IPL at this age is a big deal. The way he was facing the big bowlers and hitting big shots is really commendable.”

“It was fun to see his confidence. Thanks to IPL, today our children start dreaming from the age of five that they will play in a big team. Vaibhav has made that dream come true. It is a matter of great pride for him and his family. A 14-year-old kid is playing and dominating in such a big league, it is beyond imagination.”

However, former batsman Shikhar Dhawan warned Vaibhav that, while Vaibhav has got fame and money at a very young age, he will now have to face the real challenge of handling the growing expectations.

Second year will be challenging

Dhawan further said, “According to me, the second year is going to be a bit difficult for him. The bowlers have now understood his strengths and will make better plans against him. He will have to face those challenges and learn from them and move forward.”

Dhawan also described mental health as important and said, “Going forward, it will be very important how he takes care of his mental health. Because now the expectations will increase, from himself as well as from others. It will be interesting to see how he has to manage all this.”

However, Dhawan expressed confidence that Vaibhav Suryavanshi is in the right hands, under the guidance of Rajasthan Royals coach Rahul Dravid and batting coach Vikram Rathore, Vaibhav Suryavanshi will understand cricket better and perform well in life.

ENG vs IND: Shubman Gill is almost a carbon copy of Virat Kohli: Jonathan Trott

Shubman Gill is seen in great touch in the ongoing Test series against England

Former England cricket team veteran Jonathan Trott has made a big statement comparing Indian Test captain Shubman Gill with Virat Kohli. Jonathan has described Gill as a carbon copy of Kohli.

It is worth noting that Kohli had said goodbye to the biggest format of the game in May this year. So, after this, Shubman Gill was made the Test captain of Team India, and he is seen batting in a brilliant style on the ongoing England tour.

In the second Test match played in Birmingham, Gill scored a total of 585 runs at an impressive average of 146.25, while before that in the first Test match played at Headingley, Gill also played a brilliant innings of 147 runs as captain.

Jonathan Trott made a big statement

Meanwhile, while discussing with JioHotstar about this brilliant performance of Shubman Gill, the former English cricketer said- Today, he showed what a complete batsman he is. It reminded me of the previous Indian number four (Virat Kohli), almost a carbon copy of that talent.

I don’t think they could have imagined a better start than this in their first two Test matches on this tour. Of course, they wanted to win at Headingley, but now hopefully they will register a great win here tomorrow.

Trott further said- I honestly feel proud to be here and witness that innings. I don’t remember him giving a single chance to the English bowlers. The way he changed gears, hit sixes at will, without any slogans, just pure cricket shots, it was a special innings.

On the other hand, let us tell you that Team India has defeated England by 336 runs in the second Test match played in Birmingham. This is Team India’s first historic victory on this ground in Test cricket.

Team India will not tour Bangladesh this year, BCCI extended the tour schedule

BCCI

BCCI : Team India will not go to Bangladesh for the limited overs series in August 2025. This tour has been postponed.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday confirmed that India’s tour of Bangladesh has been postponed. There was speculation about the postponement of this tour proposed in August 2025 for some time, and now it has been officially confirmed. The ongoing geopolitical tension in Bangladesh is believed to be a major reason for this postponement. India and Bangladesh were to play a series of three ODIs and three T20 Internationals, which has now been postponed till September 2026.

Joint decision of BCCI and BCB

The BCCI said in its statement, “The BCCI and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have mutually decided to postpone the series of three ODIs and three T20 Internationals proposed in August 2025 to September 2026. This decision was taken after intensive discussions between the two boards, taking into account the international cricket commitments of both the teams and the convenience of the schedule. The BCB looks forward to welcoming India for this much-awaited series in September 2026. The new dates and schedule of the tour will be announced in due course.”

Original schedule of the tour

The BCB announced the schedule of India’s tour of Bangladesh in April. Under this, ODI matches were to be played on 17, 20 and 23 August and T20 matches on 26, 29 and 31 August in Mirpur and Chittagong. Recently, BCB President Aminul Islam expressed uncertainty about the tour, after which this decision to postpone was taken.

Disappointment of fans and schedule of players

The postponement of this tour has disappointed fans of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, as both now play only ODI cricket, having retired from Test and T20. Now both of them will be seen playing for the Indian team in the ODI series against South Africa in November 2025. On the other hand, the postponement of the Bangladesh series may give India’s top players a chance to participate in the Duleep Trophy starting in August, which will be the beginning of the Indian domestic cricket season.

Team India’s historic record under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, this happened with the team for the first time

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century in both innings of the Edgbaston Test.

After the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from Test cricket, all eyes were on the Indian young batsmen whether they would be able to perform well in the challenging conditions of England. But these young players not only did wonders, but also surprised everyone. While four Indian batsmen together scored five centuries in the first Test at Leeds, in the second Test being played at Edgbaston, the Indian team led by Shubman Gill touched the 1000-run mark. This is the first time in the history of Indian Test cricket that more than 1000 runs have been scored in a Test match.

Historic achievement of Team India

Earlier, India had scored the highest 916 runs in a Test against Australia in Sydney in 2004. But by crossing the 1000-run mark at Edgbaston, India has become the fifth team to score so many runs in a match in Test cricket.

List of world records

The world record for most runs in a Test match is held by England when they scored 1121 runs against West Indies in 1930. Australia is the only team to have achieved this feat twice—1028 runs against England in 1934 and 1013 runs against West Indies in 1969. Apart from this, Pakistan made it to the list by scoring 1078 runs against India in 2006 and South Africa made it to the list by scoring 1011 runs against England in 1939.

Contribution of Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill scored 269 runs in the first innings and 161 runs in the second innings in this Test, helping India set a huge target of 608 runs in front of England. The brilliant performance of Gill along with other batsmen led India to this historic feat. This achievement marks the beginning of a new era of Indian cricket.

Why did Team India declare the innings late in Edgbaston? Bowling coach told the reason

Team India

In the Edgbaston Test match, Team India has set a target of 608 runs for England to win.

Team India: On the fourth day of the Edgbaston Test, Saturday 5 July, India declared their second innings at 427 runs, after which bowling coach Morne Morkel defended the decision of this late declaration. He said that India had no concern with England’s ‘Bazball’ strategy. Shubman Gill played a brilliant innings of 161 runs, in which Ravindra Jadeja and Rishabh Pant also made important contributions. India set a huge target of 608 runs in front of England.

Team India’s strategy and late declaration

Team India: India scored runs in the second innings and set a target of 608 runs, which many fans and experts considered excessive, as a target of more than 418 runs has never been chased in the history of Test cricket. Nevertheless, India gave England 16 overs to bat at the end of the fourth day and put them under pressure by losing three wickets for 72 runs. Morkel said in the press conference that the team discussed a lot about declaring the innings, but the pitch was still favorable for batting.

Team India: Morkel said, “This is a good question. We discussed it throughout the day. But we felt that the pitch was still good for batting. Our batsmen were scoring comfortably at the rate of 4-5 runs per over in the last session. The weather is not in our control, so we wanted to make a strong position with the bat. We had planned to bowl more than 20 overs tonight, and we got three wickets, which is a bonus for us.”

Fifth day and threat of rain

Morkel told that the first hour of the fifth day will be very important. He said, “In the morning we saw that if the ball is put in the right place, then there was some help from the pitch. Tomorrow we have to maintain accuracy in our bowling.” However, there is a 60% chance of rain in Birmingham, which could put a damper on India’s hopes of a win.

Was India worried about ‘Bazball’?

When asked if India was worried about England’s aggressive ‘Bazball’ strategy and their intention to chase any target, Morkel dismissed it outright. He said, “If a team scores more than 500 runs on the last day, it deserves to win.” Morkel believes that India have created a strong position as per their strategy and now it is up to the bowlers to take the remaining wickets quickly.
