KSCA shifts Maharaja Trophy T20 to Mysuru as Chinnaswamy Stadium fails to obtain police clearance

KSCA

KSCA : The fourth edition of the tournament is scheduled to be played from August 11 to August 27.

KSCA : The Maharaja T20 Trophy 2025 has been moved from Bengaluru to Mysuru after the Karnataka State Cricket Association did not get clearance from the Bengaluru Police. The fourth edition is scheduled to be played from August 11 to August 27.

KSCA : This latest development means that the franchises barring Mysore Warriors have had to scramble on the logistics front. Most teams have been training at different venues across the Garden City since the past week.

The KSCA has found themselves in the center of controversy

The KSCA has found themselves in the center of controversy after 11 people lost their lives and over 50 others were injured due to the stampede at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the victory celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru after their maiden title triumph this year.

A decision came late last month when a committee was tasked by the Bengaluru government to kickstart a full-fledged investigation into the disaster. One of the major findings in the report was Chinnaswamy Stadium being deemed as ‘unsafe’ for hosting large-scale events. There were strong recommendations coming from the committee that large-scale events should be relocated to venues that were “better suited” to manage large gatherings.

Meanwhile, the KSCA has had to arrange for provisional stands at the Wadeyar Stadium in Mysuru. Preparations are also underway for pitches, playing areas and broadcasting facilities which are set to be installed on a temporary basis, as per an ESPNcricinfo report.

The Chinnaswamy has already been slated to host five matches of the upcoming Women’s World Cup, scheduled to commence in September. However, the International Cricket Council is not taking the relocation of the Maharaja Trophy from Bengaluru as a wakeup call for now.

On the other hand, the Maharani T20 Trophy, the KSCA’s women’s competition which has no begun on August 4, will continue to be played on the outskirts of Bengaluru in Alur.

Meanwhile, Rajat Patidar, who is coming off a stellar domestic season and IPL title-winning campaign, has been named vice-captain, pending fitness clearance.

Duleep Trophy 2025: The squad headlines names like Kuldeep Yadav, who returns to domestic action after warming the bench during India’s England tour. Kuldeep will spearhead the spin department along with Harsh Dubey, who shattered records in the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy with 69 wickets, and Manav Suthar.

In the pace department, Khaleel Ahmed, who returned early from his Essex County stint for personal reasons, will partner with Deepak Chahar, who has returned to fitness after a brief IPL layoff. Furthermore, among the batters, Yash Rathod, top scorer of the previous Ranji season with 960 runs, and Danesh Malewar, who had a brilliant run in the Ranji final with scores of 153 and 73, have also been added to the line-up. The Hundred 2025: Brydon Carse ruled out, Northern Superchargers announce replacement

Brydon Carse

Brydon Carse has so far picked just five wickets in 13 games played for Northern Superchargers.

Brydon Carse: England fast bowler Brydon Carse has been ruled out of The Hundred 2025, with the Northern Superchargers confirming Lancashire quick Mitchell Stanley as his replacement. The decision was made following a medical consultation with England’s team management after Carse had a taxing Test series against India.

Brydon Carse: The 30-year-old played an important role in England’s recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series against India, bowling 155 overs across four Test matches. He was subsequently rested for the final Test at The Oval due to his workload management.

“At the end of a long series against India and following consultation with the medical staff, I am sadly not able to play for Northern Superchargers in The Hundred this year. I look forward to watching from the sidelines and to representing the team again in the future,” Carse said as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Following The Hundred, England will play a white-ball series against South Africa in September, followed by tours of Ireland and New Zealand, before heading to Australia for the blockbuster Ashes series.

Ben Stokes joins Northern Superchargers as mentor

The Durham pacer has also been recovering from a foot injury he picked up earlier this year during the white-ball tour of India. The injury forced him to miss the 2025 Champions Trophy and sidelined him for nearly three months. In June, Carse even revealed he considered toe amputation due to infection and constant cuts on his bowling foot.

The pacer picked just nine wickets in the India Test series at an average of 60.88. However, his absence has opened the door for young Stanley to make an impact in The Hundred.

Meanwhile, England Test skipper Ben Stokes has been named the mentor of the Northern Superchargers. The all-rounder had ruled himself out of the tournament this season due to workload management. However, he is set to continue his rehabilitation process while performing the mentorship role.

“You will see me knocking about the Hundred, not in a playing way. I had to decide in January if I would participate in the comp, but that was after my hamstring surgery. I said I’d still like to be a part of it, so I will be milling about. I won’t have a notebook and pen. I said I would come and give my time to the team. I will be cracking on with my rehab,” Stokes was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo earlier this year.

There are five players enlisted from Jammu & Kashmir including opener Shubham Khajuria and seamer Auqib Nabi. Auqib was the second-highest wicket-taker (44 wickets in eight matches at a stellar average of 13.93) in the 2024-25 installment of the Ranji Trophy.

‘I will always be in yellow’ MS Dhoni on his long-term commitment to CSK

Dhoni

Dhoni has led CSK to five title wins under his captaincy.

Former Indian cricket team captain and finishing master MS Dhoni has recently spoken about his future in the IPL with Chennai Super Kings. It is worth noting that he has been an important part of the CSK team since the inception of the IPL, and he has also made the team champion five times under his captaincy. So, when captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the tournament due to an elbow injury in IPL 2025, Dhoni once again took charge of the team.

However, this season proved to be difficult for the team, with CSK finishing at the bottom of the points table for the first time in their history, and they were able to win only four out of 14 matches. But despite this disappointing performance, Dhoni’s recent remarks are being seen as a sign of his continued involvement with the franchise even after his playing days.

MS Dhoni made a big statement

Let us tell you that recently in a private event, he said as quoted by Hindustan Times- Me and CSK, we are together. You know, even for the next 15-20 years. I hope they don’t think that I will play for the next 15-20 years! But yes, I will remain with the team.

Dhoni further said- This is not a matter of one or two years. I will always play in the yellow jersey. You know whether I will play after some time or not, but yes, you know this yourself.

Dhoni said about the declining performance of the team in the last few seasons of IPL- Yes, the last few years have not been good for us. We have not been able to perform as expected. But it is important that you learn. Yes, you had a bad season. But what went wrong? And the same question was in front of us last year as well.

ZIM vs NZ 2025: Tom Latham ruled out of second Test with shoulder injury, Santner to remain captain

Tom Latham

Tom Latham : Santner, who captained New Zealand in the first Test, will also lead the side in the second Test.

New Zealand’s regular Test captain Tom Latham will not play in the second Test against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, as the left-handed opener has failed to recover from a shoulder injury.

Tom Latham : This setback for the second Test is another big blow apart from Nathan Smith and Will O’Rourke being injured. Head coach Rob Walter expressed his sadness at Latham’s absence and revealed the real reason for him not playing in the second match.

According to the ICC, Walter said, “It is extremely disappointing to see Tom injured again. He was working hard and preparing well for the second Test, but unfortunately, he was unable to pass his fitness test today. He is very disappointed that he will not be able to take the field, and we feel very sorry for him.”

Tom Latham : Mitchell Santner will remain captain

Mitchell Santner, who led New Zealand in the first Test and became the team’s 32nd Test captain, will continue in his role in the second match as well.

Auckland Aces batsman Bevon Jacobs has been included in the squad as fielding and batting cover. The 23-year-old was playing club cricket in Johannesburg and reached Bulawayo in short order. “With Tom being ruled out on the eve of the match, we needed an extra player immediately,” Walter said. “Thankfully, Bevon was playing in Johannesburg and reached Bulawayo in short order.”

Jacobs made his debut for the Black Caps in the recently concluded tri-series between Zimbabwe and South Africa. The 23-year-old has played three T20 Internationals so far. Jacobs will join the squad along with Ben Lister and Zachary Faulks for the second Test.

New Zealand easily defeated Zimbabwe in the first Test match played on the same ground. Matt Henry was named Player of the Match for his nine wickets (6/39 in 15.3 overs and 3/51 in 21 overs).

MS Dhoni: ‘He sings, dances and mimics well’ – Dhoni on Virat Kohli

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli have shared a great bond both on and off the field.

MS Dhoni: Former Team India wicketkeeper-batsman and captain MS Dhoni recently revealed a fun side of the legendary batsman Virat Kohli during an event held in Chennai. The veteran cricketer said that Kohli loves to sing, dance and mimic. He said that he is the ultimate package of entertainment when he is in the mood.

MS Dhoni and Kohli have had a long and successful career on the field, and represented India across formats. Their chemistry while running between the wickets was often hailed as one of the most dangerous chemistries in world cricket.

The duo played a key role in some of India’s biggest cricketing victories, including the 2011 ICC ODI World Cup win on home turf and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy win in England.

If he is in a good mood, he is very entertaining: Dhoni

“He also sings well. He is a good singer. He is a good dancer. He is also good at mimicry. If he is in a good mood, he is very entertaining,” Dhoni told anchor Bhavana Balakrishnan.

How was the IPL for both of them?

MS Dhoni had a very poor performance in the 2025 IPL season. The wicketkeeper-batsman scored just 196 runs in 14 matches at an average of under 25 and a strike rate of 135.17. Chennai Super Kings finished at the bottom of the table for the first time in their history and managed just four wins.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli had a brilliant performance in IPL 2025, scoring 657 runs in 15 matches at an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 144.71, including eight half-centuries, including a best score of 73*. The right-handed batsman finished third in the Orange Cap list.

During this season, Kohli became the first player in IPL history to score 600-plus runs in five different editions. Apart from 657 runs in 2025, he scored 741 in 2024, 639 in 2023, 973 in 2016 and 634 in 2013.

Kohli was expected to play in India’s tour of Bangladesh, but the series was cancelled due to political tensions. As a result, it is uncertain when the star batsman will next represent India in ODIs.

KSCA shifted Maharaja Trophy from Chinnaswamy Stadium to Mysore due to lack of approval from police, read big news

Maharaja Trophy: The fourth season of the tournament will be played from 11 to 27 August 2025.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has shifted the upcoming Maharaja T20 Trophy 2025 from M Chinnaswamy Stadium to Mysore due to lack of approval from Bengaluru Police.

Maharaja Trophy: It is worth noting that the fourth season of Maharaja Trophy is all set to be played from 11 to 27 August. On the other hand, after this decision of KSCA, all the teams except Mysore Warriors team may face some trouble in terms of arrangements.

Maharaja Trophy: Let us tell you that the teams participating in the tournament were seen finalizing their preparations at different grounds located in Bengaluru for some time. However, after this decision of the board, they will have to shift to Mysore for training.

Maharaja Trophy: Chinnaswamy Stadium declared ‘unsafe’

It is worth noting that in June this year, after winning the IPL title after 18 years, 11 people lost their lives in a stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during RCB’s victory celebrations, while more than 50 people were injured. After this incident, the investigation committee constituted considered the M Chinnaswamy Stadium ‘unsafe’ for any major event to be held on the ground in future.

After this decision of the committee, KSCA was instructed that large-scale cricket tournaments should now be shifted to places that are “better” to handle large crowds. Due to this, now KSCA has shifted the upcoming Maharaja Trophy from Chinnaswamy Stadium to Mysore. After this decision of the association, cricket fans present in Bangalore have got a big shock.

So, after this decision of the association, the matches of the upcoming Maharaja Trophy will be held at Wadiyar Stadium in Mysore. Also, five matches of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup are proposed to be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. However, till now the ICC has not discussed with the board about shifting these matches.

ENG vs IND 2025: Gautam Gambhir will now be responsible for whatever is happening in the Indian team – Dinesh Karthik

Gautam Gambhir

Dinesh Karthik said about Gautam Gambhir, “This is the team he has selected. He has given a chance to many young talents.”

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik has suggested that head coach Gautam Gambhir should be given more time. The Royal Challengers Bangalore batting coach and mentor believes that India drawing the series with England has given Gambhir some time to hone his skills as a coach in red ball cricket.

Gautam Gambhir: Karthik believes that Gambhir is still learning on the job, as he does not have much experience of coaching in the longest format of the game. Karthik feels that Gambhir has taken upon himself the responsibility of shaping the future of the Indian cricket team.

“As of now, I think he is on his own path. Now he will be responsible for whatever is happening in the Indian team. If he does well, he will get the credit. If he doesn’t do well, I think he should raise his hand and say, ‘No, I think we made a mistake here.’ As of now, I think he should be proud of the hard work the players have put in and the backroom staff has put in over the last month and a half,” Karthik told Cricbuzz. Gautam has given opportunities to many young talents: Karthik

Karthik said, “I think the home series against New Zealand was very ordinary for Gautam Gambhir, and that is obvious. He struggled against Australia as well. And if India had lost 1-3 in England, I would have said it completely differently. But I think now he has taken charge of this team. He has selected this team himself. He has supported many young talents.

Gautam Gambhir: Focus on taking 20 wickets instead of playing it safe: Karthik

Karthik said, “One thing I would request him to do is to be as serious about taking 20 wickets as he values batting depth. This is very important in Test matches. I think he is a great limited-overs coach – the results are for everyone to see. But in Test cricket, he is learning on the job. He is a young coach. He hasn’t coached many five-day matches or domestic cricket to get that much experience.”

“In the limited-overs format, he has certainly done more, which is why he looks much more comfortable in that format. I think he is learning as he goes. We don’t know what kind of message he gives in the dressing room, but it is clear that these players are full of passion – it was evident at the Oval. You can almost say that he has picked a team that won’t lose,” he added.
